What we collect
The site counts page views. The course sends progress reports only if you opt in. This page lists every field.
This site
Page views, without cookies
The site uses Google Analytics to count page views and clicks on the start-course buttons. Consent is set to denied for every storage type, so analytics sets no cookies. Google counts from cookieless pings, and the counts are approximate. There is no cookie banner because nothing on the site asks for consent.
The course
Progress, if you opt in
The course runs in a repository you own. It sends nothing unless you opt
in. The first time you run lab submit, it asks once whether
to share anonymous progress with the course authors. Answer no, or ignore
the prompt, and it sends nothing. Answer yes and the grading workflow
sends these fields each time it grades a pull request:
- the module number
- pass or fail
- the course name
- the template version
- a random ID for that copy of the course
The report contains no GitHub username, repository name, or code.
Our endpoint
What the endpoint reads
The request carries a short-lived GitHub Actions token so the endpoint can verify it came from a grading run. That token contains the repository name. The endpoint reads it only to verify the request. It does not log or store it.
Motion Applied keeps no record. The event goes to Google Analytics.
Turning it off
One command
# in your repository
lab share off
It takes effect from your next submit. lab share on turns it
back on. lab share status shows the current setting.
For questions, open an issue on the course template repository.
